Career Days at West Middle School

Employees speaking to students about careers at the power company.

Ten NV Energy employees recently spoke to over 200 students at UNLV Gear-Up Career Days at West Middle School. The employees--from a variety of different areas of our company--enjoyed talking to the students about the jobs available at NV Energy, their overall careers, and the different paths they took to get where they are today.

They explained the prerequisites for the many positions at the company and also spoke about our apprenticeship program which provides training for approximately a dozen different jobs, including plant mechanic, welder, lineman, substation electrician and meter man.

Apprentices at NV Energy earn a wage while learning a trade or craft and the company bears all the costs of the apprenticeship. Of course people with trades are employable anywhere in the United States, not just at NV Energy.

Attending events like Career Days is important in order to accomplish our vision of becoming the best utility company we can be. We are always on the lookout for engaged, accountable, high performing and diverse employees who always meet their commitments.
