Why is my bill so high?
Why Your Bills May Vary:
Change of season -- During the summer, hot weather can make your air conditioner, fans and refrigerator run longer and more often, using more energy. You may also run your pool or spa pump for longer hours during the summer. In the winter, your lights and heating appliances will be on longer as the days grow shorter and cooler.
Change in living habits -- A new home, a new baby, new hobbies, visitors -- all these changes can cause an increase in your energy usage and your electric bill.
Additional or older appliances -- A new computer, large screen television, pool or spa can make life more entertaining but can also increase your power bill. Older appliances, which may become less efficient, can also add to your electric bill.
If you are not able to pay your total electric bill, call us about making payment arrangements. A representative will review your account to determine your eligibility for payment arrangements.
If you are not able to pay your total electric bill, call us about making installment payments. If you honor the terms of the agreement you make with NV Energy and, on a monthly basis, pay all current charges plus a reasonable fixed amount of the past due balance, we will not disconnect your service. We give you 90 days to bring your account up-to-date.

How can I tell if my meter is being read correctly?
A quick lesson in meter reading
Electric use varies from household to household, depending upon the size of your home, the number and type of your appliances, and how you use them. Your electric meter keeps track of it all for you. Electric meters record the total amount of electricity used. You can look at your own usage by learning to read your own meter. Read the full instructions here.
